Welcome back to the start of the 2026-2027 school year!
As we begin another year together, we want to highlight one of our most important priorities: student attendance. Our message is simple: “We Care About U! Show Up, All Day Every Day!” Consistent attendance is one of the strongest predictors of student success. Every day a student is in school provides another opportunity to learn, grow, connect, and succeed.
Last year, through the combined efforts of our parents, students, staff, and school communities, the Township of Union Public Schools was able to reduce chronic absenteeism by over 20% in just one year. This tremendous progress demonstrates what we can accomplish when we work together.
However, our work is not finished.
As we enter this new school year, we need the continued partnership of our families to keep this positive momentum going. We need your help to make daily, on-time attendance a priority.
Whenever possible, please schedule appointments and family commitments outside of the school day, establish routines that help students arrive at school on time, and communicate with your child’s school when challenges arise that may impact attendance.
We understand that there are times when students must be absent due to illness or other circumstances. When attendance becomes a challenge, our schools are here to help. We encourage families to reach out so that we can work together to identify concerns, provide support, and help students return to consistent attendance.
Improving attendance takes all of us. Parents, students, teachers, administrators, counselors, and support staff each play an important role. With your continued partnership and support, we can build upon the progress we made last year and ensure that every student has the greatest opportunity for success.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we can make attendance a priority and make the 2026-2027 school year a successful one for every student.
We Care About U! Show Up, All Day Every Day!
