We proudly partner with local universities, Kean University, Seton Hall University, and Montclair State University, to provide valuable in-classroom experiences for future educators. Our district offers a variety of diverse learning environments designed to support professional growth and hands-on learning.
Follow these simple steps to request a student teaching placement:
Notify Your Advisor
Let your university advisor know that you’d like to apply for student teaching in the Township of Union Public Schools.
University Submission
Your university’s placement office must send a formal request on university letterhead to:

Placement Approval
Once approved, we will secure an appropriate placement for you.
Confirmation
We’ll return the completed placement form to your university and submit your placement for Board of Education approval.
Notification
Your university will inform you of your final placement details
Submit Required Documents
All prospective student teachers/interns must electronically submit the following:
Criminal History Background Check (archived to Union, Union County 39 5290)
Negative Mantoux Test result
Substitute Certificate (recommended but not required)
Important:
You cannot begin your internship until all documents are submitted and approved by the Board of Education.
No exceptions.
